Course Description
Blood Collection Training prepares participants for the safe and professional performance of diagnostic procedures in a medical or aesthetic office. The course includes both a theoretical part, where participants learn about the anatomy of the circulatory system, patient qualification techniques, indications and contraindications for blood collection, and aseptic and antiseptic principles, as well as a practical part, where they learn proper preparation of the workspace, equipment, and techniques for collecting blood from a peripheral vein. Participants gain skills in selecting the appropriate puncture site, applying collection materials, monitoring the patient during the procedure, and securing the site after collection. The training emphasizes patient safety, minimizing the risk of complications, and proper handling of any difficulties, as well as correct documentation and professional ethics. Upon completion, participants acquire the confidence and competence necessary to perform blood collection independently in a medical or aesthetic practice.
Theory
THEORY TRAINING
Basics of anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system, with particular emphasis on peripheral veins
• Principles of patient qualification for blood collection – medical history, contraindications, assessment of general condition
• Types of blood collection and their diagnostic or therapeutic applications
• Principles of asepsis and antisepsis in blood collection procedures
• Selection of appropriate blood collection equipment – needles, tubes, closed systems, additional accessories
• Blood collection techniques: standard and difficult cases
• Management of adverse situations – hematomas, fainting, patient reactions
• Principles of medical documentation and professional ethics
• Patient education before and after blood collection – recommendations, monitoring, safety
Practice
PRACTICAL TRAINING
Preparation of the workspace and materials for blood collection according to asepsis and antisepsis principles
• Verification of patient data and qualification for the procedure
• Overview of equipment – needles, vacuum sets, cannulas, additional accessories
• Assessment of the patient’s veins and selection of the appropriate puncture site
• Step-by-step technique for proper blood collection from a peripheral vein
• Working with patients in challenging situations – weak veins, children, elderly, needle-anxious patients
• Monitoring the patient during the procedure – observing reactions and comfort
• Securing the puncture site after collection – dressings, pressure, preventing bruising
• Management of complications – hematomas, fainting, allergic reactions
• Proper labeling of samples, storage, and preparation for transport/laboratory
• Medical documentation of blood collection and adherence to ethical standards
